Used forklifts in all imaginable shapes and for every application

Most people understand the term forklift truck to mean a forklift truck. However, this synonymous use is too brief, because in addition to this small and extremely practical design, there are many other designs. These are suitable for various uses. The means of transport for the transport of goods is suitable for moving loads over arbitrarily long distances. The vehicles are designed so that sensitive cargo is effectively protected. This is a decisive advantage over a loader or an excavator. These are designed for bulk materials.

 

How to find a suitable used forklift truck

Before you take part in a forklift auction, you should first think about the intended use of the device. Which weights should be moved and up to what height should the goods be stacked? And should the vehicle be used primarily indoors or outdoors? While electric forklift trucks are often used indoors, diesel forklifts are an excellent alternative for outdoor use.

Good to know: Thanks to modern lithium-ion technology, electric forklift trucks are now also suitable for demanding outdoor use. In contrast, diesel forklifts are not designed for use in enclosed spaces. And gas powered forklifts are a useful helper both inside and out.

 

The construction of a forklift

Regardless of the purpose, the basic configuration of the trucks is almost identical. The basis is always the chassis, the drive, the hoist and the driver's cab. In addition, all trucks have a rear-wheel steering. An exception are telehandlers. These can, depending on the model, also be equipped with a front-wheel steering. The lifting mast of the hoist usually consists of at least two nested frames. This is pulled apart during extension by a chain, a hydraulic cylinder and a pulley.

Important note: The technology of forklifts is very demanding and sensitive. This is due to the combination of electronics, hydraulics and combustion engine. Accordingly, used forklifts require regular care and maintenance.

 

Possible applications

The fields of application of a forklift are, as already indicated, no longer limited to the industrial and warehouse. On the contrary, there is hardly any industry that can do without used forklifts or similar means of transport. Possible applications of the vehicles are:

  • Trade: Reach truck, order picker, high platform forklift
  • Agriculture: Telehandler, Hofstapler
